PAUL MEISSNER (CEO, Santur Corporation)
Paul is an industry veteran with over 18 years of leadership
experience in optics and semiconductors. He joins Santur from Coherent,
where he most recently served as the EVP of Global
Business Operations. Prior to that, Paul held several
executive management and technology leadership positions
at KLA-Tencor and Applied
Materials. In addition, he advises entrepreneurs
through the Global Social Benefit Incubator at Santa
Clara University, and through the Digital Visions Program
at Stanford University. Paul holds an undergraduate
degree from the University of California, Berkeley
in materials science and engineering, and he obtained
both his masters and doctorate degrees in materials
science and engineering from Stanford University.
HAL CALHOUN (Menlo Ventures)
Hal joined Menlo Ventures in 2000. Prior to Menlo
Ventures, he served as Senior Vice President of Product
Marketing for ONI Systems, a leading
optical networking equipment manufacturer. Previously,
he held various market development positions in the Optical
Networks division of Nortel Networks
and was Senior Manager of Broadband Transport Planning
at Fujitsu Network Communications. At
Menlo, Hal focuses on early-stage communications companies.
His recent investments and board seats include Movaz
Networks and Santur. Hal is a graduate of the
Georgia Institute of Technology (B.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering),
where his graduate work focused on photonic materials, devices and
systems.
ANDY SESSIONS (Thomas Weisel Venture Partners, L.P.)
Andy co-founded Thomas Weisel Venture Partners in 2000. He has over 19 years of experience advising and investing in technology companies,
working extensively with infrastructure and service companies in the communications, software and Internet sectors.
Andy is an active board member with TWVP’s investments in Application Security, Control4 Technologies andSantur Corporation.
Prior to founding TWVP, he was a Partner at Thomas Weisel Partners in San Francisco, which he joined in 1999. Prior to TWP,
Andy was a Senior Managing Director of Private Equity at NationsBanc Montgomery Securities. Before NationsBanc, he was a General Partner with Technology Crossover Ventures,
where he led investments in Metapath Software, Mpath Interactive (HearMe), One Touch Systems and Real Networks.
Andy began his investment banking career at Goldman Sachs & Co. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and an AB from Stanford University.
ANDRE NEUMANN-LORECK (Sequoia Capital)
Andre Neumann-Loreck represents Sequoia Capital on Santur’s Board of Directors. Andre has 25 years of experience in operations, new product introduction, manufacturing and engineering in large and small companies. He currently serves as Vice President of Engineering and Operations for Cisco Consumer Products. Prior to joining Cisco in May 2009, Neumann-Loreck spent five years at Pure Digital Technologies, the maker of Flip Video Products, where he was COO. Previously, he served as COO at Photo Access and Auction Watch. All three companies were venture-backed start-ups where Andre successfully delivered industry leading products on time. Before entering the world of start-ups, Neumann-Loreck served in management and executive management positions at Quantum Corporation. Andre holds a BA from Sophia University in Tokyo.
