FREMONT, CA – March 8, 2005 – Santur Corporation, a vertically integrated optical components manufacturer and the leading manufacturer of widely tunable source lasers for telecommunications, today announces sample availability of 30 mW widely tunable C-band lasers. This is the highest power commercially available widely tunable telecommunications laser product. This new device exemplifies the capability of Santur’s proven DFB array-based technology that has already been designed in to many transponders and linecards for both metro and long-haul DWDM applications at the 10 and 20 mW level. Now, these products are capable of on-demand tunability across the C-band at CW power levels up to 30 mW.

The 30 mW product is available for sampling by qualified OEMs in the Santur Series 2000 package format beginning in April, 2005. It contains the same internal package design as Santur’s other Series 2000 products that have already demonstrated compliance to GR-468-CORE reliability standards. Santur is demonstrating even higher power operation of a widely tunable laser, at 50 mW, in booth #2280 at the 2005 Optical Fiber Communication Conference (OFC/NFOEC) in Anaheim.
